Southern Australia was hit with heavy rains, causing flash floods at Port Lincoln, in the Eyre Peninsula. In an instant, roads turned into rivers and lakes. Thousands of families in Adelaide have also experienced power interruptions and emergency services have already responded to over 100 calls from people asking for assistance.
However, it doesn’t end there as majority of the country has been warned to prepare for other severe winds and super-cell storms.
But after the rains, Tamara Barker was hungry so she made her way to a local McDonald’s restaurant. The local water pump failed overnight and the restaurant was surrounded by a meter of water.
She said, “We were driving around to find a big puddle to go puddle jumping in. We just thought that it’d be a good laugh, and it’s not every day that you get to kayak down your main street.”
Tamara also said that the staff at McDonald’s were impressed by her determination as she made her way through the drive-thru. She recalled, “They all just sort of laughed and said ‘This is the best thing.’ No one thought a kayak would come through the drive through.”
Someone snapped a photo of the 18-year-old on her kayak, and since it was uploaded, it went viral. She was so shocked about it and said, “I didn’t expect that at all. I thought maybe my friends would see it and have a laugh, but nope. It’s mental.”
