Top 7 Cars That Are Nearly Formula 1 Racecars


The Formula 1 Race has introduced us to the world’s fastest cars. And although majority of these cars were custom made for this particular high end and prestigious race, check out some of the world’s equally fast cars that might just make the cut as a formula one vehicle.


Lexus LFA

This ultra high performance super car was first released to the market in 2010. It is one of the most expensive Japanese vehicles ever produced with a whopping price tag of $375, 000. This limited produced model features a 4.8 liter V-10 engine that makes use of a port type fuel injection making it one of the fastest cars around.

The Lexus’ stratopsheric 9,500 rpm redline mimics that of the Formula 1’s high octane machine.


McLaren F1

This particular car has been commonly linked to the Formula 1 since it was first launched back in 1992. It is faster, more expensive and more high tech than any car the company has produced. Several ‘hyper cars’ like the Ferrari and the Bugatti Veyron were modeled after this model. The McLaren F1 is known for its carbon fiber monocoque chassis, its 6.1 liter v-12 engine and its center mounted seating position.


355 F1 Berlinetta

The 355 is one of the most loved Ferrari models. This was first introduced in 1994 as a replacement of the 348 model. It is known for its beautiful and dramatic Pininfarina designed exterior that increases its performance and real world drivability. This model is also known for offering the first ever “flappy paddle” gearbox in a road car. Its Formula 1 developed technology allowed it to be an ultra fast, clutch free shifting via steering wheel mounted paddles.


Acura NSX

The NSX is the Japanese equivalent to the Ferraris and Lamborghini around the world. In was developed in the late 1980’s and the early 1990’s. It is a rear wheel drive, mid engine two seater that boasts of a lightweight aluminum chassis. This was developed with assistance from famed Formula 1 champion Aryton Senna.


Ariel Atom 3

The Ariel Atom is considered to be the model closest to experiencing the effect of driving a real F1 car on a public road. Aside from its open cockpit, exposed frame and exceedingly low slung proportions, this model is quite lightweight with just under 1,500 pounds. It also boasts a very powerful engine that includes a thundering 500 horsepower V8 engine.


Ferrari LaFerrari

The oddly-named LaFerrari is the Italian marque’s latest and greatest flagship hyper car. It is known for its complex aerodynamics system and is constructed from the same carbon fiber body used in Formula 1 cars. It also has a supplementary electric drivetrain directly adapted from the  Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) that is officially used by F1 cars since 2009.

This car does not come cheap with a base price of over 1.3 million dollars. Its hefty prize is backed by the fact that there were only 500 units made making it the most expensive and exclusive cars available in the market.

BMW E60 M5

This particular model from BMW was produced between 2005 to 2010. The fourth generation BMW mid size super sedan is combination of both speed and luxury. Beneath its rather understated exterior lies a 5.o liter V-10 engine. It has a high revving power that is featured in its eight individual throttle bodies with a lightweight aluminum block and a two stage mapping computer.
