Bad-Ass Female US Veteran Hunts Poachers in Africa

In Africa, the fight against illegal hunting is extremely bad. And, most locals don’t have much power to do something about it. However, US army veteran Kinessa Johnson did really something good to prevent further damage, these illegal poachers are causing.

Johnson works for the Veterans Empowered to Protect African Wildlife or VETPAW, a group that connects the US Armed Forces veterans with the conservation rangers in East Africa. Along with her colleagues, she helps the rangers in dealing with concerns like planning intelligence operations and patrolling techniques, as well as catching illegal hunters.

While in the army, Johnson served as a weapons instructor and mechanic. Thus, giving her the skills needed to train the rangers. She said, “I patrol routinely with them and also assist in intelligence operations”.

“Our intention is not to harm anyone; we’re here to train park rangers so they can track and detain poachers and ultimately prevent poaching. Most of the time anyone that is in a reserve with a weapon is considered a threat and can be shot if rangers feel threatened” she added.

Later on, she explained that she is not a poacher hunter, but a trainer, saying “Our goal is to prevent trigger pulling through strategic movements and methods of prevention”.
