A man married his deceased girlfriend in what was a combination of funeral and wedding ceremony.

Chadil Deffy, also known as Deff Yingyuen, married his girlfriend of 10 years, Sarinya “Anne” Kamsook, in a ceremony in the Suyrin province of Thailand.
The couple planned to marry in the future, but Yingyuen was still focused on his studies.

But Kamsook suddenly died before they could finalize plans for their wedding.
The couple had met at Thailand’s Eastern Asia University ten years before. Wreaths were placed around the campus in memory of Kamsook after her death.
Some people thought the mixed funeral and wedding ceremony was very strange, but some sympathized with the groom. He received the following message on Facebook from Alejandra Yanez.
“. . . I didn’t know her, but in your photos, she looks young and full of life. I can’t image the impact her death has caused in the lives of her loved ones. It was a very moving gesture of love, very moving. It makes you rethink a lot of things in life, things you take for granted.”

Onsiri Pravattiyagul, a friend of the groom, said that the reason for the ceremony was guilt. Yingyuen felt he hadn’t done enough for his girlfriend of ten years. Shortly before her death in a road accident, she had suggested that they get married, but Yingyuen put that plan on hold. This “wedding” was his attempt to make it up to his girlfriend.
